I work mainly on rare books from University Special Collections, though I am always glad to take on private bookbinding work of all kinds as well. 1985 - present. Book conservator, specializing in rare books and manuscripts on paper and vellum. Clients include Yale University, Dartmouth College, Harvard University, Wellesley College, Washington University, Maine Women Writer’s Collection, New Hampshire Historical Society and Boston Public Library.
1985- present. Teacher of bookbinding at Maine College of Art, Conway and Sandwich Home Industries, Cook Library, League of NH Craftsmen, the Friends School in Costa Rica, and privately at home and in Costa Rica.
1978 - present. Work part time with Nancy Southworth, Book Conservator, Lancaster, NH, as apprentice, employee and co-worker. Conservation binding, though edition and fine binding work back in the late 70’s.
1983-1985 Yale University, New Haven, CT. Full-time Book Conservator for Yale University Rare Book Libraries. Conservation of rare boks, exhibit preparation and teaching training workshops.
1982 University of Washington, Seattle, WA. Nine month HEA Title IIC grant, Native Americans of the Pacific Northwest Collection Enhancement Project. Collection assessment, book conservation, supervision of conservation work, teaching staff classes.
1979-1981
Northeast Document Conservation Center, Andover, MA. Book and paper conservation on rare volumes. Clients included towns, historical libraries, universities and private individuals.
1978 Six month apprenticeships at the Center for Book Arts in bookbinding, Dieu Donne Paper Mill in all steps of handmade paper production, and Greenwich Country Day School Press in designing, linotyping, letterpress printing and binding a limited edition of 25 books.
1981 Seminar on restoration of leather bindings with Bernard Middleton, The New York Botanical Garden Bindery.
